Oris
Oris is one of a small handful of Swiss watch brands that makes only mechanical watches. A mechanical watch is a thing of beauty, designed according to principles that have been around for generations and will continue long into the future. Oris is constantly striving to make better watches that offer beautiful, innovative functions and advanced performance levels. For example, the in-house developed Calibre 400 Series of Swiss Made automatics promises a five-day power reserve, anti-magnetism, and a 10-year warranty and 10-year recommended service intervals.
This Swiss watchmaker is as fully dedicated to fine mechanical watch craftsmanship as they are to protecting the environment. It makes sense that a designer whose passion is to lighten humanity's impact on nature also creates products built to last a lifetime! Oris is a climate-neutral company taking steps to reduce its carbon footprint. They offer automatic winding men's and ladies' watches, in stainless steel, titanium, bronze, and even 3D-printed carbon fiber cases, with rubber, textile, leather, bronze, or stainless steel bracelets. Through intelligent Swiss innovation, Oris has incorporated all the bells and whistles one could dream of into their watch movements, such as water and depth resistance, power reserve, anti-magnetism, date functions, timers, second time zones, and day/night indicators. Lux Bond & Green is an authorized dealer of these fine Swiss timepieces.
Oris’ origin story is full of purpose. In 1904, Oris was born in the town of Hölstein and quickly became its epicenter. Oris soon expanded their assembly and manufacturing into five more Swiss towns, drawing attention as they transformed traditional pocket watch designs into modern wristwatches. Oris survived export and production limitations imposed by the Second World War by pivoting to create alarm clocks. By the middle of the 20th century, Oris was back to inventing revolutionary watch technology and was able to legalize a superior lever and chronograph technology. Oris is well known as a maker of fine diving, motorsport, and pilot watch styles. Over the years, the designer has embraced diversity and multiculturalism in art through watch models that have nodded to jazz artists such as British saxophonist Andy Sheppard, American trumpeter Miles Davis, drummer Art Blakey, and campaigns produced with fine artists such as Liu Bolin, or Sun Wukong, from China.
Oris proudly partners with conservation initiatives around the world to promote positive ecological change. For example, Oris is invested in restoring the oyster population in the New York harbor, fighting wildfires in California, restoring coral in the Florida Keys, and trapping and removing ocean plastics. These are just a few of Oris’ environmental protection partnership projects. It’s no stretch to say that to own an Oris watch is to join a network of like-minded global enthusiasts for planet Earth.
